Guttering/Gutter Installation Services

When we think about roofing, it’s easy to neglect guttering. New tiles and a polished chimney look fantastic, but if you ignore clogged or broken gutters, they’ll let the side down.

At Daniel Scott we understand the importance of keeping your guttering clear and in the best condition possible. This not only saves you headaches; we enjoy it too!

Installing Guttering

If you’re having a new roof fitted, or your old one done up, it’s a great opportunity to get some new gutters installed. After a few years or even decades of use, our guttering can look worn out, and might not work as well as it used to.

Guttering is worth replacing even if there isn’t a clear issue. As with anything, gutters wear out over time, so replacing them resets the lifespan, saving you from surprise expenses in the future.

Our experienced team have installed hundreds of miles of guttering over the years, fitting them to houses of all shapes and sizes, as well as industrial and commercial buildings.

If your guttering is sound, we won’t force you to replace it, but if there is an issue, you need to learn how to spot it and know what to do to get it fixed.

How to Fix Faulty Guttering

There are a few things that can stop your guttering from working properly. The most common is a buildup of mud, leaves, and other natural materials that creates a blockage along the horizontal part of your gutter. If your home is close to trees, this combined with rainfall will leave a lot of debris in your gutters.

You can clear a lot of this material with a ladder and a bit of free time, but if you leave it for a while, or don’t notice the buildup, it becomes a job that’s best left to the professionals. If the blockage becomes too large, that’s a lot of weight on your plastic guttering. This can cause it to bend or break, or just overflow whenever it rains. The latter can cause damp or damage your roof, so it should never be ignored.

If the gutters look damaged from ground level, never set up a ladder for a closer look. Any added pressure on the plastic guttering can cause it to break, putting you in danger. Instead, you need to call us to assess the issue safely.

Pieces of broken tile, paint runoff, and plaster can also build up in your gutters. This is a much bigger issue, as these are more solid materials that cause damage sooner and can’t be cleared out easily.

When you call us about your guttering, either for a cleaning or with concerns about damage, we first assess the problem. We’ll know at a glance how urgent the issue is and what needs to be done to fix it. Then, we report back to you with suggestions on what to do next.

Don’t worry, we don’t give you a ‘to do’ list and leave you to it. There’s no guttering issue we can’t handle, but we may have to return on a different date with the right team or equipment. We have decades of experience across our team, and we only bring in the best talent, no matter how simple the fix may be.

If your gutters do need replacing, we’ll handle the removal and fit a new one, keeping you in the loop every step of the way. Unlike other roofers, we don’t blast you with jargon or only make vague suggestions, the info we provide is always clear and to the point. Plus, if you have any questions, we’re always ready to answer them.
