Chimney Services

If you’re lucky enough to have a chimney, you know it’s the centrepiece of your roof. Even if you don’t use your fireplace, or even bricked it up years ago, a chimney on the roof looks fantastic.

But after decades of exposure to wind, rain, snow, and more, our chimneys often look worse for wear. They start to let the side down looks-wise or develop faults that can damage other parts of your home.

Keeping your chimney in great shape will improve your home’s curb appeal and gives you one less thing to worry about.

Chimney Repairs

Chimneys can develop a number of faults over their years of service. They can become blocked, damaged by bad weather, or just wear out from old age. No matter how well they were fitted, if your chimney is as old as your home, and hasn’t had any attention since day one, it’ll be worn out.

If something doesn’t look right with your chimney, call in the professionals. You can take a closer look, but we don’t recommend it if you aren’t experienced with roof repairs. Messing with a damaged chimney could put you in harm’s way or just make the problem worse.

Our most popular chimney services are flashing repair and chimney repointing. Let’s explain both in more detail:

Chimney Flashing Repair

Chimney flashing is the strips of metal that surround your chimney. These create a barrier between the chimney and the roof, which can be a weak point where water can seep in over time. If you don’t have chimney flashing, or it isn’t working properly, your home will be susceptible to damp, mould, and leaks.

We supply and repair chimney flashing, using high quality materials that are designed to last.

Chimney Repointing

Like we mentioned earlier, over time your chimney will wear out. The first material that will fade is the mortar between the bricks. Not only can this cause your chimney to potentially collapse but can also allow moisture to seep through the exposed mortar joints. Either scenario can cause major damage.

We recommend checking on your chimney every ten years to see what condition it is in. Some damage won’t be clear to the untrained eye, be sure to call us if you aren’t sure.

If your chimney has collapsed, we can repair or replace it quickly, or fill in the gap in your roof if you don’t want a new one.

Other parts of your chimney, such as the firebox or the bricks, can also be damaged. These can be fixed too, and we’ll make sure the replacements last for a very long time.

Chimney Sweeping and Cleaning

When your chimney needs cleaning, we don’t send in a Victorian child with a large brush. We use the latest equipment to clean out your chimney without damaging it, or the room your fireplace is in. Not only will a thorough clean make your chimney work better in the short term, but it’ll have a longer lifespan too.

Simply giving your chimney a good clean can reduce the risk of faults in the future. A jetwash won’t work miracles, but it can do a lot of good. Cleaning can also reveal damage that was obscured by dirt, soot, or grime, so we can arrange a repair before it gets worse.
