Flat Roofing Services

Flat roofs look fantastic, with a modern, sleek look that can transform the look of your home or building. Not only do they look great, but if done correctly can give you more space inside than a traditional sloped roof.

What is a Flat Roof?

As the name suggests, a flat roof is horizontal. They are most popular for extensions but can also go hand in hand with loft conversions (more about those in a moment).

The biggest issue flat roofs face is repelling water. If rainwater is able to pool, it can cause leaks, damp, or grow moss and fungi that ruins the look of your roof.

Our flat roof solutions have sloped edges to help water flow freely from the roof. We also use materials for our roofs that naturally repel water, or aren’t affected by standing water, no matter how bad the weather gets.

Types of Flat Roof

There are a few types of flat roof to choose from. These include:

  • Single-Ply Rubber Roofing
  • GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) Fibreglass Roofing
  • Bitumen Flat Roof Felt Roofing
  • Modified, ‘Torch-On’ Felt Roofing

All of these options have their own pros and cons, and a lot of the time the decision comes down to your budget and personal preferences. Felt roofing, no matter the technique used to fit, provides excellent waterproofing, making it one of the most popular options.

Rubber roofing is one of the most visually appealing for a flat roof. Its smooth edges and lack of joins makes it the best if the look of your roof really matters.

For commercial and industrial buildings, the size of the roof is a major factor. When you have a lot of space to cover, it can get expensive fast, so choosing the right material is crucial to not break the bank.

The Best Flat Roof Material

With so many options to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming if you aren’t familiar with roofing. Don’t worry, we’re here to help.

We’ll meet with you to assess your building and discuss what you want from your new roof. We always explain every option available, outlining the pros and cons in detail, so you can choose which is best for you with confidence. With decades of experience across our team, you can rest assured that whatever option you choose will be fitted quickly using the best materials, tools, and craftsmanship.

Some of our previous customers didn’t think a flat roof would suit their home, but after seeing one of our many previous fittings, they were convinced.

Roofing for Loft Conversions

There are a few types of loft conversion. Some of the most popular expand the loft or attic into a square or rectangular room depending on the size of the house. In these cases, the extension has a flat roof, one of the types we discussed earlier. On their own, or paired with a sloping section, these make your house look bold and modern, whilst also adding an extra floor with plenty of headroom.

Some people think that converting a loft reduces the amount of insulation. This isn’t true, and converting your loft actually means you have an extra layer of insulation in the roof as well as between the floors. This will help keep energy bills low, especially in winter.
